If you have dental issues such as a broken tooth or tooth decay, or if you have undergone root canal therapy, your Bradenton dentist may recommend a dental crown. Dental crowns are an extremely versatile restoration that can strengthen your natural tooth and allow it to function normally. Even better, now your dentist can create a dental crown in one appointment, making same-day crowns a popular choice. So, what are the advantages of same-day crowns? Keep reading to learn more.

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is essentially a cap that covers your entire tooth, giving it support and strength. Crowns can be used to fix several dental concerns, including the following:

  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Severe tooth decay
  • Worn teeth from bruxism
  • Misaligned or misshapen teeth
  • In conjunction with dental implants
  • On either side of a dental bridge to hold it in place

The Same-Day Crown Process

Our dental office uses PlanScan® computer-aided design and manufacturing technology to help you achieve a beautiful smile. Once we have assessed your dental needs and formed a treatment plan, the same-day dental crown process is as follows:

1. We take a 3-D digital scan of your mouth.

2. Using the digital scan, we design your dental crown, paying close attention to the size, shape, and color of your natural teeth.

3. Then, we use our high-speed PlanMill® milling machine to create your dental crown in our office.

4. Once complete, we will cement your crown in place, and you’re ready to go!

Your same-day dental crown will look and feel just like your natural teeth; you’ll be able to enjoy the functionality of a full smile, but you’ll also be thrilled with how aesthetically pleasing your dental crown will be.
